theurine.Signssuchasfrequenturination,drymouth,extremethirst,weakness,
weightloss,andblurredvisioncanresult.Diagnosisdependsonurineandblood
testsaswellasspecialglucose-tolerancetests.Thediseasecannotbecuredbutcan
betreatedwithcarbohydrate-limiteddiet,exercise,andadministrationofdrugs--
either insulin injection or synthetic oral drugs--to lower blood-sugar levels. 215
