notmakemeverypopularwiththemultinationalclubofretrovirologists.Myarticle
wasofficiallyignoredandnot“dignified”witharesponsebecausetheAIDSvirus
establishmentwas“toobusy...savinglives”andtestingforantibodiestoHIVIwas
oftenshunnedlikeanAIDSpatientbymyformerfellowretrovirologists.Myviews
wereunwelcomeforseveralreasons:afterafrustrating,twenty-year-longsearchfor
ahumancancervirus,theretrovirologistswerecravingforclinicalrelevanceand
hencehappilyadoptedHIV-”theAIDSvirus”-asthecauseofAIDS.Thediscovery
ofHIVwasannouncedintheU.S.atapressconferenceandthevirus-AIDShypo-
thesisbecameinstantnationaldogma.Onthisbasis,theretrovirologistsconvinced
theirgovernmentstospendbillionsofdollarstostopthepredictedviralepidemic,
alreadybeinglabeled“theepidemicofthe20thcentury.”Theviruswasalsothe
immediatedarlingofthebiotechnologycompanies.Duetoitsverylowcomplexity,
itcanbereadilyclonedfordiagnostictestkitsandvaccines.Inturn,theviruswasa
hitwiththepressbecauseitmobilizedinreaderstheinstinctivefearsofaconta-
gious disease, and appealed to the public prejudice that all evil comes from without.

There is no such thing as an “AIDS” virus.
TheresearchofDuesburgandotherscientistsshowstheinvalidityofthevirusclaim,andsincethe
mid1980’swhenhebegantocontradictthepartylineaboutAIDShisresearchhasbeenmarginalized
andforthemostpartignored.ThesocalledAIDS“epidemic”doesnotreactlikeotherepidemicsbut
ratherreactslikeapoisonintheenvironment,andwhenthepoisonisremoved,the“AIDS”seemsto
reduce and disappear.
Likewise the American and European AIDSepidemics:
- rose steadily, not exponentially,
- were completely non-randomly biased 85% in favor of males,
- havefollowedfirsttheover-useofrecreationaldrugs,andthen
theextensiveuseofanti-AIDS-viraldrugs(Duesberg&Rasnick,
1998),
- donotmanifestinoneorevenjustafewspecificdiseasestypical
of microbial epidemics,
- do not spread to the general non-drug using population.
AIDSmanifestsinabewilderingspectrumof 30 non-specific,heterogeneousdis-
eases.Thisisconsistentwiththeheterogeneityofthecausativetoxins.Thereisno
evidenceforAIDS-immunityin 18 years,buttheAmerican/EuropeanAIDSepi-
demicsarenowcomingdownslowlyasfewerpeopleuserecreationaldrugs(Dues-
berg & Rasnick, 1998).
