The data on the rate of detonation of nitromethane have been obtained only
recently.
Médard [12] found the rate to be 6600±132 m/sec when in a glass tube 30 mm
in diameter and 1.8 mm thick, or in an aluminium tube of the same diameter and 2.5 mm
thick. A particularly strong initiator was used. Nachmani and Manheimer [39]
reported lower figures (Table 123 and 124).
