(Nora) #1
First revealed in Madrid to hairdressers and hundreds of global
media at the annual International Trend Vision Award 2012
(ITVA) the Wella Professionals TrendVision trends are the baro-
meter of the hairdressing industry, appreciated across the
globe as the crème de la crème of avant-garde color and styling.
To make this collection truly a global endeavour, Wella
Professionals invited hairdressers from Italy – Pier Giuseppe
Moroni and Japan – Yuya Nara, to reimagine the TrendVision
looks for consumers looking for an achievable, wearable way
of sporting the Spring/Summer looks.
The two looks which make up the SS13 UPBEAT Collection are
Fusion and Decibel. They are all about freely experiencing
color and soundand the mood is upbeat, spontaneous and
full of energy. There is a shift away from the super natural
palette into the more precious pastel territory. The natural
muted tones of beige and sand in 2012 have been moved
aside in the first look of the UPBEAT Collection, Fusion, to
allow an altogether more sophisticated palette of willow and
porcelain with pastel accents.

FUSION
The Team... Pier Giuseppe Moroni, Lia Re Depaolini &
Emanuele Fortugni – ITALY
Pier Giuseppe Moroniis the Wella Ambassador in Italy. He
has his own vast salon in the centre of Milan which includes a
modern and contemporary art gallery and he has a huge
amount of experience in fashion shoots and high end editorial.
Emanuele Fortugnihas worked closely with Pier Giuseppe for
twenty years and also has a wealth of experience styling at the
shows of some of Italy most famous designers. Lia Re Depaolini
has worked with Pier Giuseppe for almost thirty years and is
head of color at his Milanese salon, where she works her
unique magic creating to-die-for color.

Pier Giuseppe Moronisays “This is not just about the present,
this is where the future lies: this mix of colors, not just colors
in general, but people’s skin colors. The interesting thing is
trying to mix different cultures and to create contrasts which
allow you to push the envelope creatively”.

The Inspiration...
Think “East meets West” - Fusion embodies a movement on
a global scale: the explosive fusion of Asian experimental
spirit with Western high culture. Witness an eclectic culture
clash, where eastern harmony is twisted and a new wave of
energy is set free.

DECIBEL
The Team
Bringing his cutting edge Eastern style to the party is Yuya
Nara of Japanassisted by Kaori Shima. Yuya works as the
art director of pioneering salon Shima in the Harajuku district
of Tokyo. Shima and Wella go back a long way, having been
collaborative partners for forty years. Other than the countless
editorial coverage he gets, Yuya is also Lady Gaga’s go-to hair-
dresser whenever she is in Tokyo.
Yuya Nara says “Decibel is associated with uplifting music like
Lady Gaga. This is reflected in both cut and color: a fun-
loving, cheerful feeling and an explosion of color! The clothes
are also very playful and punkish. Decibel definitely belongs
to the loud side of the trend. It's flamboyant with a bit of an
attitude but also playful.“
The Inspiration...
Decibel is unleashed. The unrestrained sounds of indie rock
are reflected in the free fall of the look. The style and color
push boundaries. It’s a deliberate cacophony of provocation
and spontaneity. This color trip is a total walk on the wild side.

Following the ground-breaking Wella Professionals TrendVision 2013
