Time-based logotype – Studio for Virtual Typography
This logo animation was created for the National Film and
Television School. The logotype was split into individual
letters that move horizontally in an overlapping fashion. Due
to their large size, the letters fi rst appear as illegible graphic
shapes. Eventually they become smaller and move into their
accurate positions. During the process the motion graphic
is masked so that only the circular area in the centre is
coloured. Towards the end of the process, the circular shape
transforms into the symbol that represents the institution.
The typographic treatment here was inspired by Richard
Greenberg’s title sequence for the fi lm Altered States (1980).
