Theo van Doesburg co-founded the De Stijl group (see pages

26–27) but also explored other art movements, such as

Dadaism. This example illustrates how excessive amounts

of information can lead to visual confusion. Much of the

information escapes the viewer’s rational understanding.

Words that are seen are not necessarily read. Words that

are read are not necessarily understood. However, Dadaist

work was not always meant to communicate text information

explicitly, rather to express a general attitude towards society

and politics.
