4.4 Pretest Measurements
Exhibit 4-17. Pretest measurements
A digital thermometer is directly integrated with the ISIS system. The system will
capture the room temperature and display it on the screen. The system will then give
an auditory message:
“Check footwear, attach chest electrodes and BP cuff. Then explain treadmill test.”
The initial footwear check is done as soon as the SP comes in the room. This is
another reminder to check the footwear again for proper type and to make sure laces
are tied if appropriate. If the footwear is not appropriate, get the shoe size and give the
SP a pair of running shoes from the stock supply. (See Section 2.6.2 for discussion of
appropriate footwear and Section 3.4 for discussion of checking footwear prior to the
test.)
Attach the chest electrodes and blood pressure cuff. (See Section 3.8.1 to 3.8.3 for
discussion of proper placement of electrodes and cuff.) If the SPs chest hair interferes
with the attachment of the electrodes, do not shave the site to avoid unintended injury
or discomfort to the SP. If the SP has chest hair that makes the adherence of the
electrodes on the chest difficult, ask the SP to put on a mesh vest that will assist in
keeping the electrodes attached. If the mesh vest is used, check ‘yes’ to Mesh Vest.
This field is defaulted to ‘No’ and is disabled for females. See Section 3.8.5.
