4.7 Emergency Stop

Exhibit 4-61. Emergency stop

„ During the treadmill test you should monitor the SP constantly for any signs of
discomfort or distress. If any of the conditions listed in the Priority 1 Stopping Criteria
are present (or if for any other reason you think the test should be stopped
immediately), follow the procedures for ‘Emergency Stop.’

„ Press ‘Emergency Stop’ on the ISIS screen. The ISIS system will go to Priority 1
Stopping Criteria and will give this auditory message:

“Press Cool Down on Treadmill Controller. Press Stop Belt.”

„ Press ‘Cool Down’ first. This will lower the grade on the treadmill. Then press Stop
Belt. Assist the SP off the treadmill.

„ Depending on the situation, you may call for assistance immediately when you notice
signs of distress. If the situation is not critical but you want to terminate the test,
follow the procedures and get the SP to the chair or floor and then get help. Try not to
alarm the SP unnecessarily and maintain a calm, controlled atmosphere.

„ Call the MEC physician and have the SP evaluated.

„ When the situation is under control and the SP is stabilized, enter the appropriate
information on the ISIS screens.
