intermediate weight should be entered. For example, if the scale is reading between 70 and 70.2 5 kg,


70.1 3 kg should be entered in the weight field. Other instructions include:


„ If “SUP” appears on the display, it signals that the scale is overloaded and cannot be
used for this measurement.

„ If no weight display appears when an SP is on the scale, have the SP step off the scale,
press the ON button and wait for the display 0.0.

„ If - - - - appears on the display, press the ON button and wait for the display 0.0.

„ If “Err” appears on the display, have the SP step off the scale, press the ON button,
and wait for display 0.0.

„ If “bAt” appears on the display, change the battery.

2.4.1 Maintenance and Calibration of the Floor Scales


The SECA scale should be calibrated at the beginning of each stand and weekly.

Start of Stand. At the beginning of each stand, check to see that the scale is operating

properly with the batteries in place, and then standardize the portable scale to the Toledo scale on the


MEC using the calibration weights found in the body measurements room of the MEC. Procedures for


standardizing the SECA scale are given below. Any problems with the scale should be reported to the


MEC manager immediately.


To standardize each SECA scale:

„ Perform the standardization procedures in the body measures room of the MEC.

„ Press the ON button of the SECA scale and wait for the display 0.0.

„ Place the calibration weights on the scale in increments of 50 pounds, starting with 50
and continuing to 250.

„ If the scale is off by 1 pound or more with the 5 weights placed on it, inform the MEC
manager and use the other scale.
