    Recovery).

  • The next 3 lights represent the next higher protocol again (Stage 1, Stage 2, and
    Recovery).

  • A blinking light represents the current stage.

The next lower and next higher protocols are repeated twice in case the technologist

overshoots the desired protocol when manually changing the protocol if needed. The controller only

allows advancing to the next protocol. You are not able to go back to the previous protocol on the

controller without advancing through all 16 levels.

3.9.3 Obtaining Pretest Blood Pressure and Heart Rate

„ When the Pretest Measurement screen comes up on ISIS, the system will
automatically enter the room temperature from an integrated digital thermometer.

„ The system will then give an auditory message:

Check footwear, attach chest electrodes and BP cuff. Then explain the treadmill test.

„ The SP’s footwear is checked when he or she comes in the room. The SP is asked to
put on appropriate footwear at this time. This check is just an additional measure to
confirm that the SP has proper footwear and that laces are tied if appropriate, prior to
starting the test.

„ Attach electrodes and BP cuff as outlined in Sections 3.8.1 and 3.8.3.

„ Explain the treadmill test to the SP following the standard script in Section 3.9.4 when
attaching the electrodes and BP cuff or when capturing the blood pressure
measurement.

„ When the explanation is completed, have the SP stand quietly with his or her arms
down by the side while the baseline measurements are being obtained.

„ Confirm that the blood pressure monitor power button is ON.

„ Press CAPTURE on the ISIS screen to tell the system to start the baseline BP
measurement. It will take 35 to 45 seconds for the measurements to be taken.
