gestthatforIsraelitestheymaysimplyhavebeenchildren'stoys. 13 Itisalso
possiblethat m:mysocalled"standing-stoneshrines,~essentiallyrooms
witha largecentralpillarbutwithoutanyotherremainsthatwouldsuggest
a cultieuse,maysimplyhavebeenroomsthatuseda largestonepillarto
supporttheroof.14Inshort,thesheerappearanceofanobjectisinsuffi·
cienttowarrantitbeinglabeledcultie.
