Darkcloudsrolledin andwarmblobsof rainweresoonsmackingagainstmy
face.Ontheshoresof LakeVembanadin Kerala,southernIndia,thiswas
a joyoustime.Thecomingof themonsoonsignalledthearrivalof greatbounty
forthepeopleandwildlifeof thistropicalbackwater.In theyearssince,
I’vetriedto shedmyBritishinstinctto recoilfromeventhethoughtof rain,and
openmymindto travellingat momentsthatdon’tfollowperceivedwisdom.
Embracingtheoff-season(p60)is amongthethemesin ourTravelGoals
