6 Rules of Composition

This chapter explainshowthe photographercanuse the
composition rules to draw the viewer into the portrait,
usingspace,texturesandfocalpointeffectivelytoenhance
andstrengthenportraits.Awide varietyofcompositional
tools will be considered, showing why they work in
portraiture. Specific examples are: the rule of thirds,
cropping,storytellingwithmultipleimages,negativeand
positivespaceaswellashowthesecanbeutilizedbythe
photographertocreatedramaticimages.Withthesebasic
tools you will be able to control and create
portraitsverysimply,whereyouasthephotographerhave
madethedecisionsandsohavethepowerto dictatethe
final outcome for the images.


The Masterclass will discuss the meaning and use of
rabatment and the golden spiral in photographic
composition.


7 Post Production

This chapter will give detailed insight regarding the
processesavailabletothephotographeraftertheimagehas
beentaken,suchasbackingupyourimages,editingand
renaming,reading,understandingand learningfrom your
CameraRAWmetadata.Wewillconsiderwhitebalance,
destructiveand non-destructiveediting, thecorrect black
andwhiteconversions,tintingandtoning,andlayersand
sharpening, as well as explaining plug-ins and actions.
