subject at identical power and distance.


Shadows castfromthesubject arevery problematicand
shouldbeavoidedbyplacingthesubjectfarenoughaway
fromthebackdroptoeliminatethemtotally,butstillbeing
litbythesamelightsource;bydoing thisyouwillalso
avoidany colour spillfrom the backdropto the subject
which can again cause issues.


Thecamerasettingswillalso bekeyin thecaptureofa
successful green screen image, as these will dictate the
amountofinformationthefilewillhavetoworkwith.The
camerashouldbesetto thelowest ISOpossible (100or
lowerifpossible)asthiswilleliminatethechanceofany
‘noise’, whichcan lessentheabilityof thegreenscreen
software tocreatea goodcut-out.It isalso advisableto
shootwithawideraperturesoastopushthebackground
outoffocus,soanaperturevalueofaroundƒ8orbelowis
thought to be beneficial in this technique.


Oncethebackdrophasbeenextractedthesubjectcanbe
placedonto avarietyofcreativeand imaginativescenes.
Manygreenscreen softwarepackages willsupplysome,
and indeed the user can create their own. It is always
advisableto createthemostconvincing image,tosource
backgroundimageswherethelightingusedisofasimilar
nature to that of your original set-up; otherwise the
resultingimagecanlookdisjointedand unrealistictothe
viewer.
