Textures and tones can add more interest and depth
to the appearance of a portrait. They can also enable
the photographer to isolate the subject from the
background with contrasting elements of smooth
skin tone and coarse surfaces.

One of the greatest reasons for shooting portraits on
location willinevitably be the chance to work withina
landscape or setting that has particular meaning or
emotionalsignificancefortheclientorphotographer.The
opportunitytousenaturalandurbansettingsawayfroma
studioenvironmentcaninspirethephotographertoproduce
images with a more graphic and symbolic element.
