person placed in the centre.


Whenweplaceimagestogetherforcomposition,thisrule
shouldalsobeapplied.Wewouldbemorelikelytochoose
toplace three,five,sevenornineimagesas aseries, as
they can be balanced well together, again placing the
stronger images more towards the centre of the grouping.


Golden Triangles

Anothercommonrulethatmaybeappliedinphotographic
compositionisthatofthegoldentriangle:iftherectangle
ofanimageisdissecteddiagonallyfromcornertocorner
and then again, any point of interest should be placed
running along these lines.


Diagonals in images givethe perception of energy and
depth, and can be used to give a sense of perspective,
leadingtheviewertowardstheprimaryfocalpointofthe
image. Generally for good composition the diagonals
shouldleadinfromtheleft-handsideoftheimage,asour
eyesnaturallybehaveinthiswayasifwewerereadinga
page of text.
