CREATING THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT

Creating therightimpressionin thefirst placeis vitally
important if the photographer wants to instil trust and
conveyasenseofprofessionalism.Itiscommonpractice
fortheclientandphotographertohaveaninitialdiscussion
regarding the portrait shoot before the actual day. This
discussion usuallytakes place over the phone when the
clientringstobooktheappointment.It isan opportunity
fortheclienttoairanyparticularrequirementstheyhave
regardingthe shootand tolearn what theyshouldbring
along, such as coordinating clothing, as well as getting
travel directions and parking advice.


Thistelephoneconversationisthefirstpointofcontactthat
thephotographerwillhavewiththeclient,andeventhough
itis notin person thephotographerneeds to be ableto
create the right feeling, and give the client the best
impressionpossible. Phone mannershould bepolite and
friendly, and the photographer needs to answer any
questionsposed,confidentlyandconcisely.Itisoftensaid
