person thephotographerneeds to create therightimage

aconfidenthandshake.Yourbodylanguageshouldbeopen
and giving, and eyecontact constant and engaged. The
ability to communicate effectively will be key to a
successful ongoing client relationship, where a basis of
mutual respectandtrust isatthecore.Askingquestions
and open-ended statements will create a free-flowing
conversation, where your clientwill feel cared for, and
ultimately will put them at ease with the situation.


Whenthephotographerismeetingtheclientatthestudio,
itisimportantthatthespaceistidyandwelcoming,warm
and inviting. Thephotographer must rememberthat this
maywellbetheclient’sfirsttimeinastudioandassuchit
maybe unfamiliar territory. Explainingto the clientthe
areaofthestudioand whatisgoingto occurduring the
shoot mayhelpthem to understandwhat isexpected of
them. In return they will be more relaxed and able to
deliverwhatthephotographerwants.Asimilartackshould
be taken if meeting the client on location. You might
suggestthatyoumeetatacoffeeshoporrestaurantcloseto
thechosenlocation,asthiswillenableyoutoexplainthe
proposedplanfortheshootindetailbeforehand,andthe
clientwillbeableto discussany particularrequirements
they have.
