Hue, Saturation and Luminance/Greyscale

In this menu the photographer is able to transform the
colours within theimage using the fineradjustments of
Hue, Saturation and Luminance.When manipulating the
image using theseseparate HSL tools itis importantto
understand the effect they will have on the final image.


Hue


This affects the colour or shade found within the image.


Saturation


Controls the intensity of the colour in comparison to white.


Luminance


This option relates to the brightness of the colour.


Byusingtheslidersineachmenuchangescanbemadeto
anyred,orange,yellow,green,blue,purpleandmagenta
areasthatarepresentintheimage.Withinportraiturethe
mainaimofthephotographeristocreateflatteringandreal
skintones,andassuchtheredandtheorangesliderswill
have the most effect.


IftheConverttoGreyscaleboxischeckedtheimagewill
become mono, and againtheareasof theimage canbe
manipulated to add contrast. When the Auto button is
selected Photoshopwill set thesliders to createa good
levelmonochromeimagethatmayrendertheimageasthe
photographer wishes; however this may need extra
tweaking for a satisfactory outcome.
