ENDING THE SHOOT

Towardstheendoftheshoottheclientmustfeelthatthe
photographerhasdeliveredwhattheyhaverequested,and
the photographer must feel confident that all possible
creativeavenueshavebeencoveredand thattheclient’s
initialrequestshavebeencateredfor.Atthispointitisa
goodideato asktheclientif thereisanythingelsethey
would like to try. This can lead to some unexpected
requeststhatmaynothavebeenpresentatthebeginningof
theshoot,astheclientshouldatthispointfeelmuchmore
ateasewiththephotographerandhowtheywork,andthus
morecomfortableaboutrequestingsomethingalittlemore
creative.


Iftheclientfeelsthattheshoothascoveredallrequests,
youshouldnowreassurethemthatyouhavemanagedto
producesome wonderful work,and describethe process
fromhere.Explaintotheclientthattheywillnotseeallof
theimagesthatyouhavetaken;onlytheverybestoneswill
beselectedandfullyeditedforthemtochoosefrom.Never
statehowmanyimagesyoumayselect,astheclientwill
expect to see the amount that you say, and will be
disappointed if there are not as many as stated.


Showingexamplesofproductsandotherworkatthisstage
isagainausefultoolforthephotographertolearnwhatthe
client expects. For example: Do they like the idea of
collagesofimages?Dotheywantanalbum?Thesecanall
becateredforinpostproductionifthephotographeriswell
informed about their wishes and expectations.
