hen contemplatingbecomingaprofessionalportrait
photographer,attheoutsetyoumustprimarilymaster
thecameraandlens,thelight,thesoftware,andtheskillsto
pose and draw good expressionsfrom theclients. Once
theseimportantskillshavebeenmasteredthenextstepfor
the developing portrait photographer is to evolve a
particularphotographicstyletosetyouapartfromothers,
and to drive your work forward both creatively and
expressively.


Overtimeyouwillnaturallymigratetowardsthestylein
whichyouwishtoworkandbecomemorespecializedin
this area. For example in the portraiture field many
photographersspecializeinparticularages,suchasbabies
or teenagers, and become specialists in producing these
images. Developing a style can be a daunting process
initially as the scope is so wide. Deciding where your
talentsandpassionslieisthekey pointin understanding
whichareaofphotographyyoufindmostenjoyable,what
gives you the most satisfaction and creative pleasure.
