Bendinglimbssuchasarmsandlegswillcreateinteresting
andflatteringshapes;forexample,placingalady’shands
onherhipswillslimthewaisttoshowoffherfigure,while
thearmswillbeawayfromthebodycreatingslenderlines
and making for a more flattering silhouette.


Whencapturingtheimage thephotographermustalways
beawareofwheretheclient’sbodywillcrop.Youmust
take care not to ‘chop’ wrists, anklesand fingers when
framingtheshot,asthiswillinstantlycreateuneasewithin
the image.


Horizontalandverticallineschoppingthroughtheportrait
areunfavourableto theimage, andshouldbe avoidedif
possible.


Whether theportrait isof a male orfemalesubject, the
headideallyshouldbetiltedinawayastocreateinterest
andshapewithintheframe.Iftheheadisplacedataslight
anglethenaturallinebecomesdiagonal,andthusthepose
appears more dynamic and interesting to view.
