similar fashion, the Sikhs revere the Ādi Granth, a text embodying the
revelation and presence of God. Before he died, it is believed that Guru
Gobind Singh designated that this text would be his successor. Although
these sacred texts stand within a broader context of belief, they focus the
devotional attention of devotees and their worship.
