ours! Loving others is the basis for our Kingdom work—
spreading the Kingdom of Jesus in our world, by sowing the
seeds of Jesus’ love. Often people cannot even begin to
understand the love and forgiveness of God’s love until they
have felt real love from a real live person.
Why must we initiate love before others love us? Because that
is what Jesus did.
“We loved because He first loved us.” I John 4:19
God’s love was initiated to us before we even knew to ask Him
to help us.
We read in Romans that while we were yet sinners—when we
weren’t even thinking about him—Christ died for us, because
he saw our need.
Jesus modeled His love for the world by showing love to
prostitutes, tax collectors, children, Roman soldiers, lepers, and
common folk like fishermen and friends—His demeanor was to
seek and save the lost, lonely, and all who needed to know His
love gently flowing into their own needy hearts.
Love for us is a choice to extend His love to others.
Even as He is the one who pursues us, provides for us,
encourages us, comforts us, speaks love over us, so we must
understand that we are to pursue others in life-giving love.
Because He is the source, the beginning and definition of
generous, unconditional love, and He lives within us, we must
be a picture of His initiating love to all who come into our lives.
We are His hands to bless others.
We are His voice to give messages of love to those who need
