godliness. Which life will you pursue? Will you chase after the
world or will you chase after me?”
My son said at that point, he had the realization that he would
have to make a choice to chase after God and His ways if he
wanted to grow in godliness and write a great story with his
life. He knew that his life would not be great if he did not make
an act of his will every day to make the choices to stay pure, to
make moral choices, to read God’s Word, to act in love.
As he got to know people in his class, he realized the he was
one of the only believers out of over 100 people. He made it his
goal to reach out to those different than himself, to befriend a
group of men he could encourage, and to live a life of integrity
so that all who knew him would want to know His Lord Jesus.
A graduation celebration took place at the end of his final
semester. And after the graduation there was a party with all of
his classmates. Of course, there was a lot of drinking of alcohol
and celebrating. Yet, Nathan went to the party to be with the
very friends he had been praying for all year. He did not
participate in drinking with them, but he determined to go to
each person to tell them how glad he was to have met them, as
he wanted to leave one last impression of God’s love.
At 1 a.m., one of his closest friends brought a group of people
over to Nathan and said, “Hey, dude. These people are all
asking questions about if it is possible to really know God. I
told them that you were a God-lover and that you would
answer all of our questions!”
Nathan told me that for the next hour, this group of students,
who were from all over the world, asked him one question after
another in all sincerity. He told them the story of Jesus,
