explained redemption and told them of God’s great love.
“Mom, I believe there will be people in heaven because of that
final night when I got to speak all about God. It was the
product and blessing of a year of loving them, praying for
them, and seeking to reach out to them. Mama, it really matters
to make a choice to reach out and live by faith!”
As a consequence to this choice, he wrote a book called
Wisdom Chasers about the need for people to understand that
serving God requires a choice of their will—that we must chase
after God or we will be following the world’s ways.
What choice will you make about becoming a lover? Because
love is a choice of our wills to give up our rights to serve
others. I have also come to realize that we love God by loving
others.
His ideas really challenged me in my own walk with God. And
when it comes to living by the ways of love, we must make a
choice. Loving others is not natural, it is supernatural!
Becoming a great lover does not happen by accident. We can
only leave a legacy of love if we decide to make it our goal and
yield our egos and will to the Holy Spirit by practicing love as
an act of our worship.
This brings to mind, again, these verses that I have had to
review over and over again in my life. Being strong in love
does not happen all at once. It requires baby steps of practice
and then doing it again and again. That is why I have needed a
reminder of these verses:
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And
