owls, the best time to dig into God’s Word is during their
children’s naptimes or in the evening when the house is quiet
again. Either way, the time of day is not as important as the
daily discipline of reading God’s Word personally.


Be intentional, set aside time to be in God’s Word, have a plan
of action, and then commit to the plan. I promise your life will
change the more you spend time with the Great I AM. For me
personally, one thing that has really helped is to place my Bible
on my nightstand next to my bed before I go to bed. In the
morning, after I turn off my alarm, I can quickly grab my Bible
and read it right there in bed or head into my closet. Either way
I’m able to pray, read that day’s scripture verses, and interact
with God’s Word by writing out what I learned or what God
showed me that morning. Some mornings after I read and pray,
I head to the kitchen and spend more time digging into God’s
Word, writing out what I am learning. It really helps to have my
Bible next to me when I wake up, allowing me to dig into God’s
Word first thing in the morning.


Being in God’s Word is so valuable, because the world is
constantly telling us what is important and what we should
value. It’s vital to spend time reading God’s Word because that
is how He speaks directly to us. I can’t tell you how many
times I have been struggling with a situation, a heartbreak, or
disappointment, and God has comforted me or counseled me
directly through the verses I read that morning during my quiet
time with Him. If you truly want to get to know God better, you
must spend time reading the Bible, because that is where you
will find the direct words of God. There is no other book that
has these precious, life-changing, all-powerful words. We must
make time in our busy lives to spend reading, meditating, and
