You Are Loved: Embracing the Everlasting Love God has for You

touch you that does not first go through Him (John 19:11). I
know that can be a hard truth to swallow, especially for those
of you who have been hurt or abused in your past. Questions
such as, “How can a loving God allow this to happen to me?”
fill your mind in the middle of the night. Here’s my take on the
issue. God sees the whole picture where I see only my life and
my limited view of it. I know from Scripture that He works all
things out for those who love Him and are called according to
His purposes (Romans 8:28). I have to trust that even in the
hard and tough times in my life, God can and will bring
something beautiful out of it. We simply have to trust Him in
this, even when we don’t yet see the fruits of it in our lives.


Through the pain of being labeled “learning disabled” I had to
learn that He would eventually use it for good. It was hard. I
was hurt, and at times I am still healing. But God is good (Psalm
136:1), and I trust Him that He uses all things in our lives to
bring us closer to Him and also to bring Him glory.


That is the true purpose of our lives—to bring God glory
(Matthew 5:16). This life is not about me, and it is not about
you either. It is all about God and telling others about Him
through the lives we have been blessed to live.


I was in my Sunday school class a few weeks ago, and we were
talking about the importance of bringing God glory. From
someone who might not have a personal relationship with God,
I can see where that might sound rather selfish of God. I sat
there listening to what everyone was sharing, but my heart
started racing, and I felt I needed to share one small nugget of
truth with them. Yes, the purpose of our lives is to glorify God.
Plain and simple. When we know that truth, our lives can
become much easier and simpler. Hard life questions can
