You Are Loved: Embracing the Everlasting Love God has for You

become easier when we hold everything up against that truth.
But here’s the thing: our lives are all about giving God glory,
not because He needs it. Even the rocks can call out His name
(Luke 19:40). When He is glorified through our lives, He uses
that to bring more lives to Himself. It is not selfish. It is the
most loving thing He can do. It all comes back to God loving
us.


Can you trust God? Yes.
Is it hard? Yes.
Is it worth it? Yes!

Over the years I have learned to view my life through a few
different lenses. The first one is that God is love (1 John 4:8).
Even when I don’t understand what is happening in the world
—why evil is allow to prevail at times, why children are hurt or
worse murdered—I come back to this truth: God is love. He
sees it all. It doesn’t mean He condones it. It doesn’t mean He
planned it that way, but He sees it all, and He can and will bring
good out of it, in His time, in His own way. He is the great El
Roi, the one who sees and the one who restores (Psalm 80:3).


Right after my third grade year, my parents divorced. Although
I told a friend during summer school that I would be moving
soon, I had no idea what was in store. My fourth grade year
was difficult. I was at a new school with different kids, in an
unfamiliar house, and in a strange town. My mom was then a
single parent. She worked as a hairdresser during the day and
went back to school in the evening to try and make life better
for my brother and me.


We moved into a small two-bedroom duplex. We couldn’t take
