I love this simple idea of challenging the ‘status update’, and the mechanics of
participation are so easy – it’s bordering on genius! Simplicity wins, and the
message will spread with minimal effort. There is no doubt this campaign has
demonstrated a fantastic return, with the number of impressions generated for
TurboTax.
I would question the type of relationship you are building: when does a
‘brand advocate’ become an ‘incentivized sales person’?
Is the consumer selling access to their own network for a personal gain or
are they making a valuable referral?
Only time will tell the answer, but at its heart this social experiment is brave,
innovative and a great foundation for future activity.An expert view
