completed, Rui Zhang is now
embarking on postgraduate
study at Royal College of Art.
“I’m interested in exploring
mundane objects with new
functions and new identities,
which communicate playful
stories and imaginative
dialogues between my
illustrations and the audience,”
he explains.
This approach is informed by
an important lesson that Zhang
learned at LCC. “It’s a process
of transforming your massive
ideas into physical actuals, of
which the key is to expand and
concentrate your ideas over and
over, until the best outcome can

“The most important thing I’ve
learned on my course was not to
restrict myself into just one box
of practice,” says Rohanne
Thomson. “My best work comes
when I’m experimenting with
fresh topics and styles. I’m
interested in both graphic design
and illustration, so I love work
that merges the two. Anything
bright and playful always catches
my eye.” Having graduated,
Thomson is now looking for
studio opportunities as well as
freelance work.
