DRONES ARE AIRCRAFT

While drones may seem like a toy, according to the Civil Aviation Authority,
they are unmanned aircraft. By keeping your drone in sight, below 120m,
and respecting no-fly zones, you’ll stay out of the way of other aircraft. See
flyyourdrone.nz for more tips on flying your drone safely.
CHECK WITH DOC

Some of our most stunning scenery lies within conservation land. If you’re
planning on using your drone here, you need to apply for a concession to do
so from the Department of Conservation (DOC). Similarly, if you want to film
marine mammals, rules apply. The DOC website has full info: doc.govt.nz.
RESPECT PRIVACY
You wouldn’t peek into somebody’s backyard with camera in hand, so use
the same common sense when flying your drone. Don’t fly over private areas
unless you have the owner’s consent, and, if flying over people in a public
space, make sure they’re OK with it.
