WEST Water; blue. Plants, healing, emotions, absorbing,
communion with the spiritual, purification, the
subconscious mind, love, friendships, marriage, fertility,
happiness, sleep and dreams, and the psychic.


NORTH Earth; dark green. Wealth, prosperity,
surrendering self-will, empathy, incorporation, business,
employment, stability, success, and fertility.


CENTER White. Enlightenment, finding your life path,
spiritual knowledge, and seeing and understanding
karmic paths in life.


Traditional Asian Colors

Many Asian cultures have different magickal meanings
for colors. For example, they wear white for mourning
the death of a loved one instead of black, as Western
cultures do. With feng shui becoming so popular, many
people will be interested in utilizing Asian colors. The
five Chinese elements are very different from Western
ones. Instead of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, they are
Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. In China, one of
the charts of the elements lists: north, black; west,
white; south, red; east, green; and center, yellow. To

Traditional Native American Colors

The following list of color definitions is according to the
Seneca tribe. Other Native American groups have their
own beliefs of color meaning, which may differ.


The Navajo culture believed that different colors
represented the elements: east, white; south, blue; west,
yellow; and north, black. Among the Zuni it was east,
