If you discover a sacred place (power spot) where two
or more lines meet, the pendulum will circle so fast that
it will be nearly parallel to the earth. The stronger the
energies in such a place, the faster the pendulum will
circle. Sometimes a power spot or sacred place will
appear where there are no energy lines to cross. The
energy of these spots seems to reach the earth's surface
directly from some central reservoir of power.
Some dowsers can discover the timing of events by
pointing to calendar dates and even the numbers on a
clock face. However, this type of pendulum dowsing is
very untrustworthy, and you easily can be misled by
your thoughts or the thoughts of another person.
To dowse for a specific ingredient, such as minerals,
water, or certain stones, hold a small sample of the
material in the other hand. To practice for this, have
someone prepare three glasses of water: one plain, one
with a little sugar, and one with a little salt. You may
find that you have to increase or decrease the length of
the string in order to find certain substances.
