visualize its color as you chant the mantra. Remember to
breathe in and then chant while you exhale. Begin with
the root chakra and end with the brow chakra. The
crown chakra doesn't have a mantra associated with it.
When the other six chakras are cleared and balanced,
the totality of the sounds of these six resonate in the
seventh chakra. Mantras for the chakras are:


LAM (lahm)—root chakra


VAM (vahm)—belly chakra


RAM (rahm)—solar plexus chakra


YAM (yahm)—heart chakra


HUM (hoom)—throat chakra


OM {ohm)—brow chakra


Bija mantras, also called seed mantras, are one-word
Hindu mantras that are used for specific purposes. You
can combine them with chakra mantras or vowel and
consonant sounds. The seed mantras are the simplest of
Hindu mantras and the easiest to chant. Work with a
seed mantra for at least ten days, repeating it as often as
possible. Do the same with the chakra mantras but chant
all of them, one after the other in the correct order, each
time you say them.


SHRIM (shreem) This affects the energy of abundance in all
forms and is connected with the goddess Lakshmi. It also
helps with spiritual abundance, health, inner peace,
financial wealth, friendship, and love of children and
