The supplies you will need are few: a small amount of
light blue, light green, or white material; fabric glue or
thread; a black pen; a small amount of herbs; whatever
stones you choose; a long piece of white yarn; two light
blue or light green candles; a red candle; sticks or cones
of frankincense; and a small basket or box lined with a
piece of white material. Choose your herbs and stones
from the lists later in this section.
Tradition holds that something belonging to the
person whom the poppet represents should be put inside
it, even if this is only a piece of paper with their
handwriting. However, you can make a useful poppet
without this.
The poppet is best made out of cloth instead of other
substances so that you can draw on features that
represent the man or woman for whom it is being made.
It is also useful to write the person's name across the
body of the doll. This enables you to know which doll
represents what person, especially if you are working on
more than one patient at a time. If you know the
patient's sun sign, draw that astrological symbol on the
poppet also.
