Logic Pro X, Apple’s pro-grade music
production software has been updated in the
wake of the release of the all-new Mac Pro.
That machine’s extra power means that Logic Pro X 10.4.
will now support up to 56 processing threads, allowing
pro music producers and film composers to work through
incredibly demanding music projects. Logic Pro X 10.4.
will support up to 1,000 audio tracks and 1,000 software
instrument tracks, providing four times the number of
available tracks. Additionally, Logic now supports 1,
auxiliary channel strips, 1,000 external MIDI tracks and
12 sends per channel strip.

The 2019 entries into the esteemed
Apple Design Awards were
announced at WWDC in June, with
nine iOS developers recognised
“for outstanding artistry, technical
achievement, user interface and application
design”. The awards celebrate best in class design
for apps and games, and previous winners include
Procreate and Alto’s Odyssey. The full list of
winners can be found in the table to the right. “iOS
developers keep raising the bar. This year, we are
especially proud to see so many apps and games
putting health, fitness, creativity and exciting
gameplay at the centre of their app experience,” says
Ron Okamoto, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide
Developer Relations. “We congratulate all the Apple
Design Award winners on their incredible creativity
and ingenuity.”

Apple names new senior VP
of Operations Apple news
Apple’s Sabih Khan has been promoted to its executive team
as senior vice president of Operations. Khan will be in charge
of Apple’s global supply chain, ensuring product quality and
overseeing planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics and product
fulfilment functions, as well as Apple’s supplier responsibility programs
that protect and educate workers at production facilities around the world.
“Sabih leads our Ops team with heart,” says Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “He
and his entire worldwide team are committed to delivering unmatched
experiences to our customers, treating workers everywhere with dignity
and respect, and protecting the environment for future generations.”
