ark Mode is a practical change
that came to macOS in the last
revision and if you have used
it on a Mac you will be aware that it is
much more than just a darkening of the
interface. It offers an environment that
is much easier on the eyes, especially in
certain lighting conditions, and one that has
the potential on some modern iPhones to
save a little battery life due to the screen
technology they are using. Crucially, Dark
Mode still makes the content stand out
in a natural way and will present images,
social media content and all other non-

Control Centre and then hold the brightness
tile. Now tap the bottom left-hand icon and
you will see everything change instantly.
Alternatively, go to Settings>Display &
Brightness and tap the right tile to set it up.
Even better, you can also choose to have
Dark Mode turn on at sunset each day and
then automatically turn off at sunrise which
makes for a no touch solution that will suit
your eyes and the environment you are in
at all times.
You can customise when it turns on
and off as well, a bit like Do Not Disturb,
and there are Dark Mode wallpapers built
in to complete the look. Developers also
have an API to play with so that they can
offer full Dark Mode support which is vital
for maintaining a completely dark interface
if so desired. This is a near perfectly
implemented new feature in iOS 13 and
iPadOS which truly succeeds.
