Use the Watch Dock

as an app launcher

M

ost Apple Watch users will tend to flock to the
same few apps. That’s not a slight on the huge
number of programs that are out there for this
wonderful wearable. It’s just that some, such as Messages
and Fitness, will tend to be used the most.
Looking through the mass of tiny icons, then, can be a
bit of a pain, especially if you’re jumping in and out of the
same handful. Better to have them contained in the Apple
Watch Dock and ensure that they are never knocked from
the list unless you decide you don’t want them there.
The way to do this is by making some small changes
to the Watch settings. By default, the Dock is populated
by your most recently opened apps so you’ll need to tell it
to use your favourites instead. In a sense, this will turn the
Watch Dock into something along the lines of the iPhone’s
App Switcher and it will bring back to life a feature that
many us tend to overlook.

Pick the apps you want to appear in the Dock rather
than have Apple populate it with your most recent

Step-by-step Choose apps for your Dock

1

Open Watch app
To make sure your Dock is populated with
the apps you want, launch the Watch app on
your iPhone, select ‘My Watch’ from the tabs
at the bottom of the screen and tap ‘Dock’.

2

Edit the Dock
Select ‘Favourites’ (otherwise the Dock
will be filled with your most-recent apps) and
look at the apps which are currently included.
Now tap ‘Edit’ to make some changes.

3

Remove apps
You can have ten apps in your Dock and
these are listed under Favourites. Remove
those you don’t want by tapping the red ‘–’
button. Tap ‘Remove’ to confirm your decision.

You can set your Watch up so that only your favourite apps
appear in the Dock, and not just the most recent...
