is enough engaging content here to enthrall Potter fans. We

IF YOU THOUGHT that the end of the Harry

Potter books and movies meant an end to the

tie-in games then you’re gravely mistaken, as

they keep coming thick and fast. But rather than

the huge sandbox game to fully immerse you in

JK Rowling’s wizardry universe that we all crave,

we get a Potter-themed Pokémon GO clone.

The game enlists you into the Statue of

Secrecy Task Force and your job is to wander

around the Muggle world staring at the

augmented reality display on your iPhone to

hunt down Foundables – magical artefacts,

creatures, people and memories that pop up

all over the place. Collecting these lost items

involves casting a spell by tracing your finger

over an onscreen pattern and then adding it to

your Registry. The gameplay is exactly what

you would imagine from a Harry Potter-style

Pokémon GO game, but plenty of care and

attention has gone into making it an irresistible

prospect for Potter fans. For example, by

finding Portkeys you can unlock Wizarding

World locations that you can explore in an

immersive VR-like environment. You can also

collect ingredients to make potions, specialise in

a specific profession within the force and then

team up with other players with different skills,

and undertake challenges and timed events.

There is certainly a great deal to enjoy here

and it’s a good enough game to get you out

exploring the real world. However, unless there

are many other players in your community,

playing alone is a soulless experience that is

just about qualifiable by the amount of exercise

you’ll get playing it. If you wizards unite though,

then it’s tremendous fun.
