cially important to us to continue to develop our
potential author database, as we plan to publish an
online edition of EWIC which will allow for ongo-
ing updates. On behalf of the Editors and Brill, I
express my deepest gratitude to all contributors,
past and future.
I would like also to express appreciation to
authors who tried very hard to meet our deadlines
and were not able to. We extended deadlines a
number of times, but as with any publication, some
final cut-off date must be set. All the entries that
were accepted for publication but that did not meet

our final deadline for Volume II will be published in
the online edition of EWIC, on which we hope to
begin work in 2006.
Finally, my daughter, Sara Rose Joseph, contin-
ued to sacrifice and bear witness to this project with
which she has lived most of her life. Now she
admonishes me, from her college dorm room, for
the hours spent on EWIC, all the while pleased that
we have produced this most marvelous contribu-
tion to feminist scholarship.
