Financial rewards for results are only part of the
compensation picture for teams. Teams are often asked to do
things differently and to take risks that may not always produce
desired results. If rewards are tied only to results, teams will
not be motivated to take risks. Therefore, companies such as
Motorola reward teams for desired activities and behaviors.
Timely recognition for team members also is critical as with
other employees.^19
