The following year, in keeping with the mood of the times, Laura Ashley
became a ‘lifestyle concept’ with the launch of two new retail ventures,
‘Mother and Child’ and ‘Laura Ashley Home’. Mother and Child shops
were opened as either stand-alone shops or in-store boutiques. Inside they
offered an upmarket selection of children’s clothing and matching mother
and baby wear. A coordinated range of nursery furniture and furnishings
