- Specific location
- Date
- Time
- Case identifier
- Preparer/assistants
- Scale or scale disclaimer (recommended to utilize “not to scale”)
- Compass orientation “in the field”; utilize the north arrow indicator
- Anatomical orientation in the morgue setting
- Identification of evidence in the sketch by name or item number
- Table of relational measurements regarding evidence
- Key or legend for specific measurement units if needed
- Evidence item numbers correlated with evidence recovery log
