Pratt-SILS is the first and only school of

library and information science to offer

a museum libraries certificate program.

Based on four pillars of knowledge—

research/curatorial; digital technology;

education and outreach, and field

experience—it prepares students for

careers not only in museums, but also

research libraries, art libraries, and in

digital archives and humanities. This

program can be taken within Pratt’s

M.S.L.I.S. program. It can also be taken

as a stand-alone program by holders of an

M.L.S. degree from an ALA-accredited

program. Students select one three-credit

course from a selection of courses for each

of the four required areas.
