ment analysis, especially Laban analysis. Movement
assessment, evaluation, and observation are studied
through direct movement exploration and the use
of videos. The relevance of LMA to dance therapy is
explored.

Studies Movement Behavior II

DT-674 | 3 CR This course studies systems of move-
ment analysis, especially Laban analysis. Movement
assessment, evaluation, and observation are studied
through direct movement exploration and the use
of videos. The relevance of LMA to dance therapy is
explored.

Improvisation

DT-675 | 3 CR This course involves the study of
the fundamental nature of the improvisational process
in dance therapy. The use of improvisation in varying
dance therapy methodologies is examined.

COMD/

Communications Design

Imaging: Photoshop & Graphics

COMD-508 | 2 CR This course is an intensive work-
shop in the creation of realistic and surrealistic pictures
using the preeminent software application for digital
image manipulation. Classes are held in computer
labs equipped with Macintosh computers. One major
assignment will extend over the entire semester—to
make a creative photo montage from one’s own
photographs. The final presentation must include final
artwork as well as original source photographs. The
course goal is to provide a thorough understanding of
the techniques that can be used to create a convincing
photo montage. Prerequisites: take COMD-201 COMD-
202 COMD-211 COMD-212 COMD-215 COMD-216
COMD-231 COMD-232.

Advanced Imaging in Photoshop

COMD-509 | 2 CR This class will help students
improve their rudimentary understanding and profi-
ciency in the manipulation of representational digital
media. It is designed to take the student to the next
level of creativity through the use of complex digital
tools and techniques that will expand the student’s
understanding of the program, while at the same time
maximizing their performance. It will allow the students
to take the boring or mundane and give it some punch.
Prerequisites: take COMD-508 or COMD-211.

Sequential Art & Graphic Novel
COMD-511 | 2 CR This course emphasizes visual
storytelling in all its complexities—from the psychologi-
cal reasoning behind the arrangement of panels to
mold time to the pacing, camera angles, balloon place-
ment, composition dynamics, and lettering that make a
story come alive. In addition to the traditional forms of
print-based sequential illustration, this course also pro-
vides an excellent foundation for the creative process in
video animation and computer interactive multi-media
productions. Prerequisites: take COMD-201 COMD-202
COMD-211 COMD-212 COMD-215 COMD-216.

Web Design
COMD-520 | 3 CR This course teaches the concepts
and structure of World Wide Web-based communica-
tions employing interactive digital media. A variety of
digital tools and procedures will be employed, including
HTML scripting, text editing, graphics processing, Inter-
net access, Web browsing, file transmission, and Web
page design. Prerequisites: take COMD-201 COMD-202
COMD-211 COMD-212 COMD-215 COMD-216.

Web Design II
COMD-521 | 3 CR Students will redesign 2 HTML
websites to Flash websites using the techniques
learned during class and also design an original
online Flash portfolio. Hands-on lab time, experience,
discussions, and demonstrations will give students
greater sensitivity to AS3, the programming language
behind Flashcs3, and equip them to create custom
Flash interactive solutions for clients, either for websites
or interactive CD-ROM presentations. Students must
already excel in Flash CS3 and be proficient in Illustrator,
and Photoshop to enroll. Prerequisites: take COMD-520.

Freelancing: Business Graphics
COMD-551P | 2 CR This course is essential for
students planning to establish a freelance business or
seek full-time employment, in the fields of illustration,
graphic design, and advertising art direction. The lec-

in order to register for this course.

Artist’s Books in Electronic Age
DDA-510 | 3 CR This course provides students with
the skills necessary to produce an artist’s book with a
computer graphics system. The course covers all areas
of book production, including concept development,
writing of text, layout, image making, printing, and

puter technology has revived the Renaissance model
of a single individual in charge of all aspects of book
creation, printing, and publishing. Prerequisites: take
DDA-150 or DDA-612.

Lighting and Rendering
DDA-513 3D | 3 CR In this intermediate level
course, students learn the principles and techniques of
virtual 3-D lighting and rendering. This includes utilizing
materials, textures, cameras, shadows, special effects,
and rendering tools. Students complete projects deal-
