  1. Notice the picture you make when you think of health.

  2. Swap the qualities of the images.


As with changing the picture qualities of a belief (check out Chapter 10),
altering the qualities of the picture you have for health to make it the
same as the one you have for fun moves health up and places it at the
same level as fun. Now change the picture for fun so that it has the same
qualities as the one you had for health. This process moves fun down to
the previous level of health.

Now that you’ve experienced working with pictures, try changing the hierar-
chy of your values by altering the sounds and feelings you may experience.

Daydreaming Your Future Reality


Contrary to what your school teachers may have told you when they saw you
gazing out of the classroom window, allowing your mind to wander can be a
powerful first step in achieving your goals. By using the techniques described
in earlier sections of this chapter, you can discover your heart’s desire and
take the first steps towards achieving it – all by daydreaming.

Give yourself permission to dream and play. What would you want to succeed
at if a fairy godmother came and gave you one wish? Imagine that you have
all the influence, contacts, and resources that you need to fulfil your deepest
desire. Got your goal? Now follow these steps:


  1. Make a list of what’s important to you about your goal, all the reasons
    why you want it, and put them in order of importance.


Are you surprised by your values? Did you realise something you
thought important wasn’t that important after all, and did you think of a
value that may have been missing in the beginning?
If you’re not sure how to do this exercise, refer to the section ‘Eliciting
your values’ earlier in this chapter.


  1. Now, while still daydreaming, imagine floating out of your body and
    into the future, to a time when you may have achieved this goal.

  2. Notice the pictures, sounds, and feelings, and manipulate them.
