Principles of
Medication
Administration
Administering medication to a patient can be tricky and outright dangerous
unless special precautions are followed to assure that the patient receives the
right drug, given at the right time, using the right route.
In this chapter you’ll learn the proper way to administer medication and
how to avoid common errors that frequently result in improper medica-
tion administration that harms the patient. You’ll also learn how to assess
the patient to determine if the patient experiences the therapeutic effect of the
medication.
