FOLLOW THE LEADER
the differences is the essence of synergy – the mental, the emotional,
the psychological differences between people. And the key to valuing
those differences is to realize that all people see the world, not as it is,
but as they are...The person who is truly effective has the humility
and reverence to recognize his own perceptual limitations and to
appreciate the rich resources available through interaction with the
hearts and minds of other human beings. That person values the
differences because those differences add to his knowledge, to his
understanding of reality. When we’re left to our own experiences,
we constantly suffer from a shortage of data...Synergy works; it’s
a correct principle...It is effectiveness in an interdependent reality
- it is teamwork, team building, the development of unity and
creativity with other human beings.^16
“I would rather put a thousand men to work
than do the work of a thousand men.”^15

Leadership in general, and Biblical leadership in particular, is a journey of
togetherness. It is a partnership where the leader shares responsibility with his
followers. Whether it is with seventy elders in the case of Moses, or seven
deacons in the early church – authentic spiritual leadership is always based
upon partnership.
Principle:
“Leaders are team players who have a people priority.
Th ey practice inclusive partnership rather than
exclusive ownership.”

takes a secure servant-leader to incorporate others in his vision.” Selfish
and worldly leaders do not want to “take people to the top” with them.
They want exclusive ownership of both the vision and the victory. They
want to hold tightly to both the power and prosperity of their position.
Biblical leaders, on the other hand, want to share their leadership trip
with as many people as possible. They have learned that there is power in
empowering others. An authentic leader knows that by enlarging others, he
