Early 19th Century
The gilt ground rectangular Transfiguration panel fea-
turing a center oviform medallion with Christ,
flanked by righteous men and women released from
bondage, standing on the broken gates of Hades,
grasping the hand of Adam; below Eve rising from
her tomb on the right, on the left Angels of the
Lord, headed by a Cyrillic inscription “Resurrection from
the Dead”.

The brown bordered rectangular panel centering a multitiered
depiction of the Resurrection, the top half of the icon with
various manifestations of Christ symbolic of the Redemption,
adorsed by his Faithful followers intricately painted in the
clouds; the lower half of the panel divided by a sinuous figure
of a serpent, on the lower right, the jaws of hell depicted as a
monster, adorsed by those facing their fate; a lower register
with scenes of one’s fate in Hades, multiple Cyrillic inscriptions of
those facing their Judgment Day of either Heaven or Hell.

Nativity; Baptism of Christ (Epiphany); Presentation of Jesus at
the Temple; Entry into Jerusalem; Annunciation; Ascension of
Christ; Pentecost; Transfiguration; and Dormition; each scene
with old Cyrillic inscriptions in black script.
